THE FUTURE OF THE FINANCIAL CENTRE

January 2001

Dear colleague,

FINANCE DUBLIN and FINANCE have been recording developments in Ireland's International Financial Services Centre since its inception in 1987. In March 2000 we held the first annual FINANCE DUBLIN conference to address the key issues challenging the future growth of Ireland's IFSC. Over 200 delegates, many from overseas, participated in the event which was addressed by leading figures from the international IFSC community as well as top politicians and regulators.

This year again, as a perusal of the programme on this site shows, the conference will bring together an unique group of world and IFSC speakers and delegates. The overall theme shall be how companies can move up the value pyramid and and add value in an increasingly competitive world as the IFSC enters its 'second generation', which all speakers, in case studies, and in practical workshops shall be addressing.

A second theme running throughout the conference shall be 'e-finance', and how the IFSC platform can be used to the maximum to develop financial services in global markets through e-commerce.

The topics and speaker line-up also reflects the suggestions of delegates, as well as readers of FINANCE DUBLIN, examples being e-commerce, staff shortages and HR issues, as well as securitisation developments and the new Irish pfandbrief.

Our line up of worldclass speakers is outlined opposite. The uniqueness of the FINANCE DUBLIN Conference is that it is the only forum where all areas of international financial services in Ireland are covered. It focuses therefore on issues that affect each sector, from life assurance, to banking, funds and asset finance. It brings together regulatory, tax policy and internet issues in a forum of the top decisionmakers and form this reason I look forward to welcoming you to the conference in Dublin in March 2001.

Yours sincerely
