Developing new knowledge in finance and financial servicesFintel Publications Ltd was founded in 1987, and since then it has specialised in developing and disseminating knowledge amongst its customers in the spheres of corporate finance, treasury, economics, and financial services. Its first publication was the monthly FINANCE MAGAZINE which marked its tenth anniversary in the summer of 1997. It also publishes the monthly FINANCE DUBLIN (Established in January 1996) on offshore financial services and international financial centres, focussing on banking/treasury, collective investment funds, insurance and asset finance. It has organised and co-ventured in international conferences and seminars in the areas of cross selling financial services (1988 and 1989), treasury (1991), collective investment funds (1996), and, a major international conference (March 1998) on Establishing a Financial Shared Services Centre in Europe. Its first annual FINANCE DUBLIN conference - the only pan-IFSC annual conference - was attended by over 200 delegates in March 2000. Since 1991, it has published the annual Yearbook & Directory of Ireland's International Financial Services Centre, and the latest edition of the 248 page volume was launched by the Irish Minister of Finance in March 2000. Fintel was founded by Ken O'Brien, the company's managing director, formerly a financial and economics journalist with the Wall Street Journal, Irish Times, and AP Dow Jones. He holds degrees in economics from Trinity College Dublin, (BA) and the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario (MA).
